Three Watford Ladies in action for Raise

Watford LadiesWatford FC’s Community Sports & Education Trust took part in last month’s “2.6 Challenge” and very kindly decided to split the funds raised between their own charitable work and Raise – supporting staff at West Hertfordshire hospitals through the COVID-19 crisis.

Players Helen Ward, Ryah Vyse and Renee Hector (pictured in that order, and click for full size image) were amongst the participants.

Tamora Burford, the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager at Watford FC Community Sports and Education Trust, told us “Helen ran 2.6 miles every day for 10 days, and Renee and Ryah ran 2.6 miles and cycled for 26 minutes every day for 10 days, raising over £600”

Helen captains Watford Ladies FC and you can learn more about the team here >> https://www.facebook.com/watfordfcladies/.

David Head, from the West Hertfordshire hospitals charity Raise, said “The 2.6 Challenge in April was a way of getting involved in community fundraising to support loads of good causes at a time when major fundraising events such as The London Marathon have had to be cancelled. It’s great that the Trust chose to share the proceeds of their hard fundraising work with Raise – we are very grateful.

“The funds will contribute to our COVID-19 Response Appeal and be used to support NHS staff who have faced such tough times in recent weeks.”
