Interventional Radiology appeal

Imagine This…

Being able to perform more numerous and complex pinhole surgeries that will save more lives in our local community. That is the vision for this appeal, which aims to raise £695,000 so we can purchase a new hi tech scanner for a new interventional radiology suite being created at Watford General, due to open in March 2024.

Our patients deserve the very best treatment and care

Our patients deserve to benefit from the latest, cutting-edge equipment and the most advanced medical procedures. Performing interventional radiology pinhole surgery is one of the ways we can transform patient outcomes. Patients can be treated faster, return home sooner and heal more quickly than using traditional surgical techniques.

Interventional radiology is a form of image-guided surgery which enables clinicians to carry out minimally invasive pinhole surgery. Interventional radiology uses x-rays, CT scans, ultrasound and MRIs to guide surgical equipment into parts of the body that couldn’t normally be reached without open surgery.

UPDATE: We’re almost there! We’re 98% of the way toward our £695,000 appeal target. Will you help us reach our goal by making a donation today? Thank you for your kindness.

The new interventional radiology suite will mean that the hospital’s clinical team will be able to increase the range, number and complexity of procedures they can perform.

Dr Patel and Dr Zamir, lead interventional radiologists at West Herts Hospitals, discuss how they will transform pinhole surgery. Here’s a short video from ‘An evening with Dr Patel and Dr Zamir’ where they share their vision…
