Raise funding grants

Would you like to be able to provide additional comforts for patients and their families?

Would you like to have access to latest technology equipment and resources to enable your team to provide care which excels beyond the minimum NHS standard?

Would you like to enhance your rest spaces with additional furnishings, appliances and accessories for your staff areas?

 

As a west Hertfordshire hospitals employee, you can apply to Raise for a grant to provide additional enhancements for the benefit of the patients and staff of in our hospitals.

Important information for your application

  • Applications for small grants of up to £4,999 (including any VAT payable) can be made using the application form here. 
  • Before completing an application, please use the application checklist here.
  • If you are unsure whether your application is appropriate for charitable funding or have any questions, please contact Raise’s Specialist Projects Manager on 07767 102297 for an informal discussion before submitting an application. 
  • For small grant applications, a decision will be made within four weeks of receiving a fully completed application including full costings. 
  • Applications for medium grants of £5,000 to £24,999 (including any VAT payable) can be made using the application form here.
  • Before completing an application, please use the application checklist here.

  • For medium grant applications, a decision will be made within eight weeks of receiving a fully completed application including full costings and trust-approved business case.

  • Once you have spoken with the Specialist Projects Manager, applications for large grants of £25,000+ (including any VAT payable) can be made using the application form here.

  • Large grant applications operate on a quarterly cycle.  For your application to be considered by the Charity Committee, a full application including full costings and a trust approved business case needs to be submitted as follows:
  1. March (application deadline: end of February)
  2. June (application deadline: end of May)
  3. September (application deadline: end of August)
  4. December (application deadline: end of November)
  • Grant application decisions for large grants will be communicated within two weeks of the committee meetings.

You will need the following information to be able to complete an application: 

  • Full costs/quote(s) for item(s)/service(s) you would like to purchase with the grant.  The application form will prompt you to attach the quote(s). 
  • Be able to confirm that you have checked with your line manager or a senior colleague in your department that the grant you are requesting is appropriate and wanted by your department/service. 
  • Be able to confirm that the item(s)/service(s) you would like to purchase with the grant will be of benefit to patients and/or staff at West Hertfordshire Hospitals. 
  • Be able to confirm that the item(s)/service(s) you would like to purchase with the grant are NOT essential to the running of any NHS services.  Raise is only able to fund things which are complementary to the NHS going above and beyond the national minimum standard required for the NHS. 
  • Be able to confirm that you have checked that all trust checks have been undertaken so that the item(s)/service(s) you would like to purchase with the grant are compliant with all trust rules, regulations and procedures (e.g. Infection Prevention & Control; Estates including Environment, Health & Safety, Fire Safety); Medical Devices; Information Governance; IT).

For medium and large grant applications, a trust approved business case will need to be submitted with your application. The application form will prompt you to attach the business case. 

  • Raise grants make a difference to patients and staff across west Hertfordshire’s hospitals, supporting the hospitals’ trust with enhancements so that they can go above and beyond, providing the very best experience of care.

 

  • If Raise does not have funds immediately available, but believes your application is appropriate for charitable funding, your grant may be approved subject to funding being raised and/or items being donated. The more notice you provide Raise about your wish for funding, the more likely Raise can fundraise to be able to provide you with a grant.

 

  • Grants are available for the provision of additional enhancements for the benefit of the patients and staff of west Hertfordshire hospitals.

 

  • Raise grants cannot fund anything which is essential to the running of any NHS services. Raise grants are for funding things which are complementary to the NHS, going above and beyond the national minimum standard required for the NHS.

 

  • Grant applications will only be accepted for applications which have been deemed appropriate and wanted by your service/department (check with your line manager before applying, as Raise will seek advice from your senior colleague(s) regarding the appropriateness of your application).

 

  • Raise can only accept grant applications for items/services that have undergone all trust checks and are compliant with all trust rules, regulations and procedures (e.g. Infection Prevention & Control; Estates including Environment, Health & Safety, Fire Safety); Medical Devices; Information Governance; IT).

 

  • Grant applications will only be accepted with full costings/quote(s) detailing how the full amount requested would be used.

 

  • Applications for £5,000+ will only be accepted with an accompanying approved trust business case (e.g. capital request business cases must have been approved by the trust Capital Finance Planning Group - CFPG).

 

  • Raise cannot accept retrospective applications for funding.

 

  • If your grant application is successful, by accepting the funds you are agreeing to acknowledge Raise as the funder in all communications regarding your project and agreeing to provide feedback to Raise regarding the impact of the funding. Failure to do so could jeopardise the success of any future applications.

 

  • Raise reserves the right to withdraw grants in the following situations:
    1. if spending has not commenced within six months of notification of grant approval;
    2. if spending has not been completed within twenty-four months of notification of grant approval;
    3. if any agreed reporting requirements are not met;
    4. if there are any changes to the project/service to be purchased with the grant which differ to the information provided in the application form.

 

  • If you need to make any changes to your project, it is imperative that you contact Raise as soon as possible. In extenuating circumstances, amendments can be agreed upon at the discretion of the Charity Director.
  • Web standards and technology are constantly evolving, providing web developers with more features and better technology for creating websites and web applications. Modern Browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, and even Edge (now Chromium-based), are constantly evolving with it, constantly being updated and improved upon. Do you know what’s not evolving, at all? Internet Explorer.
  • Internet Explorer browser is old and outdated, and even Microsoft themselves say that using Internet Explorer is highly unrecommended.

This application form is for staff West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust staff to apply for funds from Raise.
