You can make a quick and secure one-off card donation through our JustGiving page.

Please say “yes” to Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, which enhances your gift by 25%.

You can post a cheque payable to Raise to:

FAO: Raise, West Herts Hospitals' Charity
Watford General Hospital

Vicarage Road

Please send us any foreign or old currency you have no use for.

Even small amounts of coinage have some value, as we can collect it all together and secure enhanced exchange rates. We will gladly accept the following:

  • - any banknotes, current or obsolete, from any country
  • - any coins, current or obsolete, from any country
  • - medals and similar collectables
  • - commemorative coins and sets

Coins can be posted to us at The Charity Director (Raise), Room 1-16 Willow House, Watford General Hospital, WD18 0BH - or brought along to the reception area at Watford, Hemel or St Alban’s hospital, clearly marked as being for Raise. Alternatively, if you have a lot of heavy coinage, please email us at and we'll make alternative arrangements.

A note about Gift Aid (tax relief for charities)

When you give to charity, the tax you paid when you earned the money you are donating can be claimed back from HMRC by the charity. This means that a donation is increased in value by 25%. For example, if you donate £50.00, Raise can claim an additional £12.50!

In addition, if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of 40% and the 20% basic rate on the total of your donation through your tax return.

We can claim Gift Aid on money for sponsored activities or on donations paid directly to the charity. However, please note that Gift Aid isn’t available on donations made on behalf of a group or a collection, on money from ticket sales for a raffle or an event, or on a donation from a company.

Raise can claim Gift Aid on your future donations if you register with us, we’ll tell you how it’s done.
