A trained bicycle mechanic is offering his services to West Herts NHS staff to give free bike maintenance checks and repairs (excluding parts).
Northwood resident Peter Lewis, approached Raise with the kind offer as a gesture of thanks to staff who looked after his wife.
“In 2019 my wife was admitted to ICU seriously ill. The teams and staff at Watford were exemplary and I would like to try and offer some help to them this year,” Peter told Raise.
Peter has already carried out some repairs at Watford General Hospital – in this video, he explains more:
The government has released its latest batch of vouchers.
The Fix Your Bike Voucher Scheme allows members of the public to receive a voucher worth up to £50 towards the cost of repairing a bicycle.
Peter is offering his time for free to give bicycles a maintenance check and carry out any repairs. Spare parts would need to be paid for by the owner. The owner of a mobile cycle repair business, Peter can be stationed at Watford General Hospital or NHS bike owners can visit him at his workshop in Northwood.
In order to establish demand – and to comply with COVID restrictions – we’re asking those who would like to take advantage of this offer to please fill out the following form. We will then collate the data and establish how to best proceed before passing on your details to Peter.
