Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to reunite patients with their families over Christmas, however some patients are simply too poorly, live too far away or have no family to visit them. With the festive season almost upon us, we have a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most by bringing some warmth, love and joy to them by providing festive food and small gifts for our patients to enjoy.
“All of us here at West Herts want to make Christmas a special experience for those patients who are admitted to our wards over the Christmas period away from their families. Your donations could really make a difference this Christmas; and help spread some much-needed cheer and sparkle to lonely, isolated patients on the wards, having to spend the holidays away from their loved ones.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity, on behalf of us all here at your local hospital, we wish you a fantastic Christmas with your loved ones.”
Kelly McGovern, Chief Nurse
How you can help
Gift Donations: Please donate new, unopened gifts suitable for all ages for our patients. Suggested gifts for our patients include: personal care items, treat selection boxes, activity books and colouring supplies, cosy blankets and warm scarves. These thoughtful presents are sure to create moments of comfort and happiness for our patients. Please see our Amazon wishlist for suggested gifts.
Please note that, for the safety of all recipients, we are unable to accept gift items containing nuts.
Christmas Jumper Day: Wear a Christmas jumper, Santa hat, or anything that sparkles to raise funds for our appeal. Choose a day, encourage everyone to participate, ask everyone to donate whatever they can afford and we can use your fundraising to purchase gifts for our patients during this special time of the year.
Donate: A cash donation will allow our charity team to purchase gifts for our patients .For those who won’t have visits from friends or family, your donation is a powerful reminder that they are not alone, and that the community cares about their well-being.
- £5 could help buy hand creams, toiletries or an advent calendar
- £10 could help buy activity books, pens and colouring items for our elderly patients
- £20 could help fund winter warmers such as blankets, scarves, gloves and more
