Will you take to the skies for the NHS?
Join us for a once in a lifetime experience – the tandem skydive!
Take to the skies on Saturday 8 June 2024 to raise vital funds for West Herts Hospitals. You will be securely attached to an experienced tandem instructor who takes charge of vital functions such as opening the parachute and landing safely. You will then fly to 10,000 feet and exit the aircraft! The free-fall will take around 30 seconds before the parachute is deployed, and in no time at all you will have reached the ground with a safe landing!
We are organising this event with the North London Skydiving Centre located at Chatteris Airfield in Cambridgeshire.
How much is the skydive?
The cost of the event is £199 per person which includes your £50 registration fee. We would love you to raise a minimum of £400 (you will receive support and advice from our friendly fundraising team to help you reach your target).
We know that, now more than ever, it can be difficult to ask for donations when friends and family may not be able to give as much, but together we can still make a difference – you’d be amazed how the smallest sponsorship and donations add up very quickly. Our fundraising team will be here to support you and you will also receive our fundraising pack to inspire you.

Why fundraise for Raise, West Herts Hospitals Charity?
Not only will you feel a great sense of achievement, but you will also be doing something great by fundraising for your local NHS hospitals across Watford, Hemel Hempstead and St Albans.
Our hospitals depend on charitable support, and every day is a chance for you to make a difference. Your fundraising could be helping to pay for something big – like a special piece of equipment that goes above and beyond what the NHS can provide alone. Equally, you could be supporting a small comfort that makes all the difference such as toys for poorly children or wellbeing support for our exhausted doctors and nurses.

FAQS
What time is the skydive?
You will need to be at Chatteris Airfield at 7.30am on Saturday 8 June 2024. Your jump time will be confirmed on the day. As skydiving is a weather dependant activity it is not possible to book set times for the jumps to be completed, as we are looking for very specific conditions for safety reasons. We ask you to arrive for 7.30am and the order in which everybody arrives dictates the order of flight, and we aim to start flying from 9am, weather conditions permitting. We ask that you arrive early, but please be prepared to be with us all day. You can monitor the latest forecast at https://ukskydiving.com/weather/.
Are there any restrictions?
All participants must be aged 16 or over. Please check through the age, weight and health restrictions and complete the forms here. If you have any questions, please contact us to discuss. There is no upper age limit, but we encourage older participants to consult their doctors in advance.
How fit do I need to be to take part?
You don’t need to train for this event, but you will need to have a reasonable level of fitness. Please consult your doctor if you are unsure. Please check through the age and weight restrictions here. You will be required to fill out a medical form before the event, which you can access here.
What do I need to wear?
Tracksuit bottoms, long-sleeve sweatshirt, and trainers are ideal.
How long is the parachute ride?
About 5 minutes – giving you plenty of time to enjoy the amazing all round views.
What’s the best way to land?
Heels first with your feet out in front of you and your toes pointing upwards.
Will you be providing transport?
We will organise a coach for participants who need help with getting to the airfield. Guide price costs based upon 50 people travelling from WD18 0HB to the skydive centre and then returning to Watford is £23.00 per person, the cost will be reconfirmed once participant numbers are finalised.
I’ve never fundraised before, and I don’t know where to start. What do I do?
An online JustGiving fundraising page has been created for you to sign up to and you can receive further help and tips from our dedicated fundraising team to help you with your fundraising. Our JustGiving fundraising page can be accessed here.
What if I don’t reach the minimum sponsorship target?
By registering for this challenge, you are pledging to raise the minimum sponsorship of £400 and understand that it is the aim of this challenge to raise as much as possible for your local NHS hospitals. Our fundraising team is on hand to help you reach the target and make the whole experience fun!
You must have fundraised and banked at least 75% of the target one week before the event date. If you cannot raise the minimum sponsorship your place may be forfeited unless you make up the balance yourself.
Do I need to sign a Waiver?
Yes, please complete the waiver from here. Please also familiarise yourself with the standard terms and conditions, which all bookings made with us are bound by at https://ukskydiving.com/tandem-skydiving-terms-and-conditions/ – we hope you’ll jump on the initial date booked, but if the weather prevents you from jumping the terms allow a 12-month validity period in which to rearrange and complete the experience, but please have a thorough read through the full terms.
What if I can no longer take part due to sickness, self-isolation or Covid?
Unfortunately, in this scenario we will not be able to refund either your registration fee or your sponsorship as it will be too late to offer the place to another individual.
Photography?
Filming options can be arranged on the date with the airfield staff – available packages range in price from £99 to £169 per person – more details and examples can be seen here: https://ukskydiving.com/air-to-air-filming/
By attending this event you agree to be photographed. We will be posting photos and videos of the event on our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages. Please do share your photos and videos on socials and tag @RaiseWestHerts
We would also like to use the photos for press and Trust communications after the event. If you would rather your photo wasn’t taken or shared please contact the charity team before the event.
Will there be food and drink available on the day?
There is an onsite canteen at the airfield providing a snack service during skydiving hours, where you are able to purchase hot and cold drinks, crisps, chocolates, pot noodles etc throughout the day. Participants may prefer to bring their own food, in which case this would need to be consumed outside and not in the canteen facilities.
What are the Terms and Conditions?
All bookings made with us are bound by the terms and conditions at https://ukskydiving.com/tandem-skydiving-terms-and-conditions/.
We hope you’ll jump on the initial date booked, but if the weather prevents you from jumping the terms allow a 12-month validity period in which to rearrange and complete the experience.
