Every day, our dedicated teams and individuals at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust go to extraordinary lengths to provide exceptional care for our patients across Hemel Hempstead, St Albans City and Watford General hospitals and our outpatient physiotherapy centre in Abbots Langley.
It is so important that we recognise and celebrate the efforts of our staff and thank them for their commitment. Our hard-working doctors, nurses, other specialists and support staff constantly step up to manage challenge after challenge, giving their all to ensure the unprecedented numbers of patients receive the care they need.

On 22 September 2023, we hosted our Stars of Herts annual awards night – a special evening to honour our staff and their care and commitment, and this year is such a special year as it marks the NHS’s 75th birthday!
Watford Palace Theatre set the stage for the event where our sponsors had the honour of presenting the winners with their awards alongside chief executive Matthew Coats, and non-executive director Ginny Edwards. Trust chairman Phil Townsend made a special appearance to present the final two awards: inspirational colleague and inspirational team.

Congratulations to everyone who received a nomination. Click here to view the winners and a photo gallery from the night.
This short film provides a great flavour of the Stars of Herts awards evening, (thanks to Watford Football Club for volunteering their videography team for the night):
Alison Rosen, Raise’s CEO, said: “We’d like to thank the following locally based companies who have showed their support by sponsoring this special event. Your businesses share the same values and standards of excellence that we do, so we are delighted to have you on board.
Stars of Herts is a calendar highlight for our staff, an opportunity to reflect and celebrate our amazing staff. It is thanks to the generous corporate support, such as yours, that we are able to host this important event.”
