Gift Aid (tax relief for charities)

When you give to charity, the tax you paid when you earned the money you are donating can be claimed back from HMRC by the charity. This means that a donation is increased in value by 25%. For example, if you donate £50.00, Raise can claim an additional £12.50!

It’s very simple – just tick the Gift Aid box on any online donation or on the paper Gift Aid Form and we reclaim the tax at no extra cost to you.

In addition, if you are a higher rate tax payer, you can claim the difference between the higher rate of 40% and the 20% basic rate on the total of your donation through your tax return.

We can claim Gift Aid on money for sponsored activities or on donations paid directly to the charity. However, please note that Gift Aid isn’t available on donations made on behalf of a group or a collection, on money from ticket sales for a raffle or an event, or on a donation from a company.

Raise can claim Gift Aid on your future donations if you register with us, we’ll tell you how it’s done.
